The forthcoming review of homelessness legislation should be undertaken to a more cautious timetable, allowing time for informed research before reaching detailed conclusions, Institute of Housing President, John Bennett, said today in a letter to housing minister, Sir George Young.

Mr Bennett warned that current homelessness legislation is more or less acceptable to most local authorities and there is a danger that changes could bring unwanted consequences.
