Teachers believe the problem of violence in schools is getting worse, BBC Radio Four's Today programme reported this morning.

A survey by the teachers' union the NASUWT found two thirds of its members said violence has increased in the last few years.

Primary school teachers said the greatest threat was from intruders, and also feared violence from parents. Secondary school teachers thought the greatest threat came from pupils, the programme said.

The NASUWT's full report is available on request from LGCnet. Tel 0171 833 7324/5 and we shall fax you a copy.
