A £5,000 bequest to Criccieth Town Council which was to be used to plant trees, shrubs and plants around the town was declared void by executors yesterday, the Daily Post reports (Welsh edition, p11).

The council accepted opinion from counsel that 'certain conditions imposed in relation to the gift deemed it to be legally void on purely legal technical grounds.'

The bequest was contained in the will of the late emeritus professor Morris Davies.
