Waltham Forest LBC, which covers the Walthamstow area of north London where many of last week's anti-terror arrests were made, has said it is 'working hard with its partners from all our communities to ensure that this borough continues to be a place where people from all backgrounds, faiths and cultures can live together'.

Since the raids occurred the council has been co-ordinating community cohesion outreach work. This has included convening a meeting of community leaders chaired by the council leader, where they were briefed on the latest information regarding the police raids and given the chance to identify any areas of concern to the borough police.

A letter signed by the leaders of the three political parties in the borough will also be distributed to residents calling for calm.

The council's community cohesion task group will also be working to identify and tackle any particular issues which may arise as a result of the events of the past week.
