Thanet DC has warned it will sue local employers who put people's safety at risk by not tackling the millennium bug.

Chief environmental services officer Brian Whitehead said: 'There is strong evidence that the proprietors of many small and medium sized businesses are failing to recognise the significance of potential computer failure. Time is running out.'
