Chancellor of the Exchequer Kenneth Clarke will present the Budget at 3.30 pm. The statement is expected to last about an hour and a half.

A large number of written announcements are expected and these will include:

Benefits help to compensate for VAT on fuel; the Docklands Light Railway; British Coal's external finance limit; review of economic conditions in hills and uplands; financial objectives for London Transport; fair rents; student grants and loans; the Scottish local government finance settlement 1994/95; non-domestic rates in Scotland; Welsh local government spending; education spending; merging the Educational Visits office and the British Council; agricultural research and development; the review of National Insurance contributions; Intelligence Services' spending; OPSS spending; the Trans-Pennine Study Strategy report.

Oral questions at 2.30 pm are on employment matters. Questions to the Prime Minister start at 3.15 pm. Main business is the Budget debate.

In the House of Lords main business is a debate on packaging and packaging waste.
