A double decker bus which had its roof ripped off by a bridge while

carrying a group of primary school pupils appeared to have taken a

different route from usual, said a Lincolnshire CC spokesman.

The Guardian (Oct 3, p8) reported that the 63 children on the bus,

travelling from Ropsley primary school near Grantham, to their weekly

swimming lesson in the town, survived by ducking down into their seats when they saw the bridge approaching, though some were injured by flying glass.
