Junior education minister Robin Squire set out in a written Commons answers (14 Dec, col 624) the total spending on grant maintained schools in 1992-93 and 1993-94; along with projected figures for 1994-95. The figures were £485 million; £1.2 billion and £2.0bn respectively.

The Department of Transport is shortly to publish guidance detailing the engineering measures available to councils to prevent vehicles parking on pavements, Roads Minister Robert Key said (col 592).
