Tower Hamlets LBC has received a£11.45 million grant from the goverment's Single Regeneration Budget, the East London Advertiser reports (p9).

The SRB is aimed at brightening up the borough's poorest areas bordering the City. But it is also expected to attract extra funds from other public and private sources that could total£150 million - enabling radical improvements to the area.

Funding and resources have already been pledged by the Millennium Commission, Queen Mary and Westfield College, London Guildhall University, the NHS Trust and private companies.
