Tower Hamlets LBC has lost an appeal against a court ruling that found its decision to refuse a tenant a renovation grant was unlawful, reports The Times (p36).

The court of appeal upheld the earlier decision saying an equitable interest in the property where not less than five years remained unexpired on the lease was as good as a legal interest

The right falls under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
