Tower Hamlets searches for interim chief

  • Comment

Tower Hamlets LBC is to launch another recruitment process for an interim chief executive following the failure to appoint to the position permanently.

Councillors have agreed that corporate director Stephen Halsey is to act as head of paid service until an interim chief executive is found.

The renewed search comes after the council’s appointments panel failed in May to agree on a candidate following a recruitment process overseen by Penna.

Aman Dalvi, who had been acting as chief executive until the appointment process was aborted in May and was one of the candidates for the permanent role, remains corporate director for development and renewal.

A spokesman for the council said the process for appointing an interim chief executive would start “immediately” and that the search for a permanent chief executive would also continue.

“Mr Halsey will continue in his current post and the council’s corporate management team will also continue to jointly lead the council and manage council business.”
