The project finance business chief for management consultant company Deloitte is on 'loan' to the treasury for a year to lead its private finance initiative policy.

Gordon McKechnie replaces Richard Abadie at the treasury, where he will support the development of PFI policy and oversee the rollout of financing models and provide support on complex procurements.

Mr McKechnie has worked on PFI and public/private partnership projects since the early days of its introduction in the UK.

He has advised Eastern European countries on privatisation and his experience spans the transport, defence and energy utilities (gas and electricity), water, oil and gas sectors.

Deloitte PPP team head Nick Prior said: 'Deloitte are pleased to be making a positive contribution to the future of the market.'
