Adur DC director of resources Sheila Wheeler has been appointed chief executive of Tunbridge Wells BC.

Ms Wheeler, 41, previously worked in finance in senior positions for Surrey CC, as principal accountant (1997-2003) and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, as team leader in the capital finance and accountancy section (2002-03).

Tunbridge Wells BC leader Melvyn Howell said:

'I am delighted to welcome Sheila to this vital role for our borough and am looking forward to working with her in a full spirit of partnership. With the support of councillors, staff and our external partners, I am confident that together we can take the borough council forward not only with our improvement programme but also with challenging and positive change for the benefit of all parts of our community.'
