The Times (p6) reports on local and environmentalist opposition to Leeds city council's planning decision to allow a film set village to be created at a country estate.

The council yesterday approved the building of the fictional village which features in the TV soap Emmerdale, in the grounds of Harewood House, but environment secretary John Gummer gets the final say as the decision has been referred to his department.

The Ramblers Association and the Council for the Protection of Rural England have voiced concern at the decision.
