Two director posts are among 28 senior jobs being cut by Derwentside DC to meet £900,000 budget gap, reports the Evening Chronicle (p7).

Director of consumer services John Hall and central services director Brian Shield will lose their jobs, says the Chronicle, as the council reorganises with five new posts reporting to chief executive Neil Johnson.

Council leader Alex Watson said: 'We have excellent officers and we regret having to lose jobs.'
