UK councillors will be among the speakers at a conference on wireless cities, for which there are 20 free conference passes being offered to senior local authority and public sector representatives.

The Wireless Cities event in Cannes, France (29 November - 1 December 2006), will look at how wireless infrastructure can deliver more economic development, social inclusion, more efficient services, more effective emergency services, better asset tracking and cheap, ubiquitous broadband access. Specialist suppliers and experts will be on hand to discuss the technology and policy maze.

The full conference programme is at the Wireless Cities website.

Experts around the globe who have begun the journey of delivering their municipal wireless networks:

Dianah Neff, CIO, City of Philadelphia

Councillor Terry Stacy, London Borough of Islington

Richard Bull, Chief of Police, Ripon, California, USA

Bill Graham, Mayor, Scottsburg, Arizona, USA

Councillor Chris Newby, City of Liverpool and President, EuroCities KSF
