The National Union of Public Employees may seek judicial review to establish that the TUPE regulations apply to three North Yorkshire CC school cleaning contracts, the Yorkshire Post reports (p18).

Cleaners face pay cuts of more than 10% following the award of the contracts to Securicor Cleaning. School governors will have to declare the 590 cleaners redundant before they are taken on by Securicor at lower pay rates.

NUPE plans to take the case to an industrial tribunal and hopes to get a judicial review to establish that the transfer of undertakings rules apply to the contracts.
