Unison, the union representing workers made redundant by Brent LBC currently involved in claims for race and sex discrimination and unfair dismissal at an industrial tribunal, today issued the following statement:
'Unison's argument is with Brent council and the methods it used to make Unison members redundant. Who Brent council has as its legal representative is a matter for them.
'The issue here is whether Brent discriminated against and unfairly dismissed Unison members, not who it has as its legal representative. Under the British legal system, lawyers often have no choice over the cases they take up.
'We are confident that our members' legal representative will put up the strongest possible case in their favour.'
