The Manchester Evening News (January 13, p5) reported that social workers say that proposals to alter the way children's homes are run in Tameside will put children and staff at risk.

Unison says that it is now officially in dispute with Tameside MBC over a package of proposals which it claims will also downgrade member pay and conditions and could mean job losses.
