UNISON SUPPORTS SIB BID TO SPEED UP PENSIONS REVIEW

Reacting to the proposals by the Securities and Investments Board (SIB) to speed up the pensions review, Unison national pensions officer Glyn Jenkins said: 'Our members will welcome any move that will speed up overdue compensation and to re-instate them into occupational pension schemes.

'But it is the lack of answers rather than the number of questions that is causing the hold-up. We are not sure that simply reducing the number of questions will stop insurance companies and financial advisers dragging their feet.

'What is needed now is robust action by the SIB, and if necessary the government, to force the companies to reach settlements without the further delay.'
