Unison leaders at Isle of Anglesey CC have called for the public's support for the overwhelming majority of the authority's staff who have done no wrong, following critical reports from the district auditor, reported The Daily Post (6 Oct, p11).
Martin Eaglestone, Unison branch secretary, said a number of staff had expressed serious concern at the impression being given in some quarters that all staff are involved in some form of wrongdoing.
He added: 'This is causing great upset to them. Anglesey Council employs thousands of people who are daily involved in important work in our schools and in caring for the elderly, in delivering front-line community services and working hard in a climate where budgets are tight and stress high.'
Mr Eaglestone said it was unfair to tarnish all employees following allegations against a small number of individuals, adding: 'The overwhelming majority of staff tell me it has reached a stage where they are concerned at the reaction as they go about their everyday business.'
