Public access terminals, with touch screens in libraries and high streets, will be among the features in the government's bid to transfer much of its business with the public onto the Internet.

Sunday Business reports (p1) on the green paper, 'Information Technology and the Citizen' which aims to revolutionise the relationship between the individual and the state.

Initial proposals will include the ability to fill out tax returns, renew licences and apply for grants and benefits through filling out electronic forms on the Net.
