Big Lottery Fund backing of more than£24m is helping 220 voluntary

and community groups reach out to those most in need by supporting their

services that are creating vibrant, healthy and safe communities across

England.

BLF chair Clive Booth said:

'The grants awarded today will contribute to the valuable work of hundreds of projects that tackle disadvantage, promote wellbeing and improve the quality of life of communities across England.

'Many of the organisations supported by this programme work on the principle of helping people to help themselves and the Big Lottery Fund is delighted to provide backing for projects that encourage self sufficiency, instil self confidence and help their beneficiaries develop and realise their own potential.'
