Wakefield MBC has voted to raise desperately need capital to fund a Channel tunnel rail terminal by selling council owned flagship buildings, the Yorkshire Post reports (p4).

The paper says that the council will sell a shopping centre, office blocks and other smaller buildings to raise £11 million.

Half of the money raised will go on the first phase of the Europort terminal at Normanton which has now been given a provisional start date of May 1994.
