A special pre-Christmas meeting of Walsall MPC has been called to try to block the sale of the 14-acre former Aldridge airport, reports The Birmingham Post (p3).

Conservative councillors want to stop the move to sell the former wartime RAF base to a company partly owned by a public body. They fear the company may want to build a housing estate on the land which the council has earmarked to be used only for offices and light industry.
