Wandsworth LBC has announced plans to convert a comprehensive school into a selective grammar school, the FT reports (p10).

The paper says that the boys only Ernest Bevin school is asking to select 90 of its 180 intake on academic criteria. The borough is asking the neighbouring girls school, which has opted out of local authority control, make a similar number of places selective.

And, if the girls school does not agree the borough says it has plans to open a new girls grammar.
