Wandsworth LBC is still in the dark over the possible sale of Battersea power station, the Financial Times reports (p9).

Hong Kong developers George and Victor Hwang are negotiating to buy the site from its current owner John Broome. Mr Broome had intended to develop Battersea power station as a leisure park but no work has been done since his company got into financial difficulties.

Mr Broome owes Wandsworth £170,000 in building fees, agreed in an out of court settlement last year but still unpaid. The council says if it is not paid it will have the company declared insolvent.

Wandsworth director of finance Simon Haywood told the FT the council was in the dark about the nature of negotiations over Battersea power station but hoped to be meeting the parties involved shortly.
