Three social workers at Warrington BC have been suspended after a 10-year-old boy and a woman had to be rescued by firefighters after sinking into mud at a beach near Thurstaston, reported the Daily Post (Sept 9, p13).

The council said the three employees had been suspended while an investigation was carried out.

The boy and woman, from Warrington, were taken to Arrowe Park Hospital suffering from shock.
