Warwick DC has awarded a revenues services contract worth£400,000 a year to its in-house team.

The three-year deal, which is extendable for a further two years, starts in March. The council invited bids from ITnet, Cashflow and East Anglian bailiffs Jonire, but only the latter decided to submit a tender.

The in-house team, led by Chris Lickorish, had been preparing for competition for three years. Mr Lickorish said acquisition of new software, based on a design used by Herefordshire Council, had been crucial to his team's success.

'This enabled us to make significant savings and, following a competitive review, we continued to monitor our progress against other service providers. More recently we introduced a telephone call centre which enables us to manage incoming calls more efficiently,' he said.
