A review to decide the future of the Welsh Development Agency has been launched by Welsh first secretary Rhodri Morgan.

The review, one of a series on quangos in Wales, will consider whether the work carried out by the agency is still necessary. The WDA attracts funding from overseas and encourages domestic firms to invest further in Wales.

It offers factories for sale and rent and reclaims derelict land for development.

Mr Morgan: 'The review will be rigorous and carried out as quickly as possible so that any period of uncertainty is minimised. I hope everyone with an interest will submit their views and suggestions so these can be taken into account.'
