It has emerged that the Welsh assembly has no members who are freemasons, according to The Daily Post (23 July, p14).

AMs have been declaring interests in the first register demanded under rules government standards. Directorships of companies, outside employment or payments, gifts and hospitality, shareholdings and property are among the declarations revealed last week. But none of the male AMs declared themselves members of masonic lodges.

The interim register published on Friday gave no names and the full register will be published in September. Ten AMs declared unpaid directorships, 22 were occasionally employed in journalism, TV appearances or as consultants, lecturers or MPs.
