Montgomeryshire DC members took the opportunity of Welsh secretary William Hague's roving tour of Wales to ask about 'much needed' improvements to the A458 trunk road, The Western Mail reports (p6).

Mr Hague was also challenged by local MP Alex Carlile to back Mid Wales Airport with a programme of funding to encourage use by regular domestic flight operators.

Facilities such as the control tower and taxi-ways were funded by the district council in association with Development Board for Rural Wales.
