Welsh secretary William Hague has reversed his predecessor's plans to dismember wildlife and countryside conservation in Wales, reported the Independent on Sunday (p6).

The Countryside Council for Wales' budget has been increased by 20%, restoring a 16% cut imposed by the previous Welsh secretary John Redwood.
