The number of complaints against Welsh councils to the local government ombudsman ranged from 19 to more than 100, the Commission for Local Administration in Wales annual report has revealed.

Monmouthshire CC and Merthyr Tydfil CBC were each the subject of 19 complaints determined by the ombudsman last year. None were upheld. Conwy CBC topped the poll with 148 complaints, although the ombudsman noted that 112 of these related to one issue.

Carmarthenshire CC was the only other council to top 100, with 101. No judgments of maladministration were made against either.

Denbighshire CC accounted for half the 18 findings of maladministration causing injustice.
