Welsh town centres may lose out to the tune of millions of pounds more than was estimated in the creation of out of town retail stores, reports The Western Mail (p2).

Taff Ely BC commissioned Oxford Retail Consultants to carry out a study of the effects on Pontypridd of a new out of town development.

They say the town could lose £400,000 a year from one scheme alone.

Campaigners right across South Wales have formed an alliance to campaign against the dash by developers to turn prime out-of town sites into retail stores.
