Manufacturing employment in the Welsh Valleys has fallen faster than any other area in Wales under a regeneration initiative launched by the government in 1988, a report revealed yesterday, the Financial Times reports (p10).

The report by the Government Statistical Service showed that the first five years of the Programme for the Valleys saw £770m of funding from the government and the EC.
