Officers and members of the former Mid Glamorgan CC and Cynon Valley BC have been served writs regarding their involvement in a Welsh Development Agency joint venture in Aberdare.

Development company Landare Investments has served a total of 15 writs against the WDA, Rhondda Cynon Taff as the successor council and 13 named individuals.

The writs and a 50-page statement of claim relate to a joint venture between Cynon Valley and the WDA and their involvement in a Tesco retail development at Aberdare in the early 1990s.

Lawyers for Rhondda Cynon Taff and the WDA are preparing defence statements. The council has also agreed to act on behalf of the nine named former members and officers, providing no conflict of interest emerges between their interests and the council's.
