The government has admitted that almost£27bn more in revenues has been raised in Scotland than has been spent, reports The Glasgow Herald (p1).

The admission has been celebrated by the Scottish Nationalists who had asked for breakdowns in treasury figures, which took account of North Sea oil and gas revenues against public expenditure.

The SNP said the figures proved that Scotland was not subsidised by the rest of the UK, and could support itself if it won independence.
