West Midlands councils are hoping that private cash will fund a £300m development at Birmingham International Airport to head off government demands for them to sell it, reports the Birmingham Post (p3).

Seven authorities will meet tomorrow for a strategy meeting in an attempt to safeguard millions invested in recent years.

Sir Stan Yapp, Chairman of the airport board said some kind of marriage with the private sector was 'inevitable', the Birmingham Post reports (p3).
