The Times (August 30, p3) reported that a woman who went on holiday to

Australia without paying a£30 parking fine, returned to find bailiffs had seized her Range Rover and sold it.

A spokesman from Westminster LBC told the paper that the council had

carried out its statutory duties after sending the woman letters demanding payment over three months.

'People have plenty of opportunity to query the fines. If a driver doesn't want to be penalised, they should not park illegally in the City of Westminster.'
