Westminster to shed 200 posts

  • Comment
Westminster City Council’s senior management faces drastic cuts as part of a plan to axe 200 posts, saving£10m.

The cuts will take place over the next three years, focusing on back-office staff.

Chief executive Mike More said he wanted a better ratio between staff and managers, cutting the corporate management board from 20 directors to five.

Mr More said: “In particular, the council will become less hierarchical with 100 fewer managers by 2011, most of whom will go through natural turnover.”

The council is also looking at unifying its back offices in areas including policy, finance and performance to tackle duplication.
