Welsh MP Don Touhig yesterday launched a bill to protect 'whistleblowers' who expose crime or malpractice at work, reports the Western Mail (p7).

Mr Touhig says he has the support of MPs from all parties as well as a variety of organisations and trade unions, but he is waiting the see if the government will allow the bill to progress.

The bill would afford individuals protection from reprisals from their employers, provided that they first raise concerns internally and that the disclosure was in the public interest.
