A parish councillor has been sacked for receiving£1.35 a week to wind a village clock.

Pat Wynn (63) of Dun Chideock, Dorset, had wound the clock for 40 years, but he said he would not wind it again nor restand as a councillor 'after all this performance'.

He was paid£70 a year by the parish. The council has written to him saying it is on his conscience whether he pays back the six years' pay he received while a councillor, which it says breaches regulations in the Local Government Act 1972.
