IF YOU WEREN'T IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?

I used to do a bit of drumming in my youth so in an ideal world a drummer in a loud rock band.

IF THE OFFICE WAS ON FIRE WHAT THREE THINGS WOULD YOU TAKE WITH YOU?

My yukka, mobile phone and bank cards.

WHAT'S MORE IMPORTANT - JOB SATISFACTION OR MONEY?

Job satisfaction, though money really helps. There's nothing worse than a

boring, uninspiring job that means the

days drag. There's nothing to make you think and you feel no sense of achievement. I've been very lucky in this respect for the last 10 years.

WHO OR WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST INSPIRATION?

A combination of some of the more remote parts of the North Yorkshire Moors, stunning at any time of the year, and the book To kill a mockingbird - there's a comment in there somewhere that you have to put yourself in someone else's shoes to understand how they feel, useful.

WHAT'S THE BEST JOB THAT YOU HAVE EVER HAD?

A summer job, painting and decorating in Scarborough.

WHAT THREE WORDS WOULD YOUR COLLEAGUES USE TO DESCRIBE YOU?

I hope - although I haven't checked - 'approachable, reasonable, thoughtful'.
