YOUR JOB?

I'm team leader and manager for elections and electoral registration in the democratic services unit, for Parliamentary, district, parish and other elections. I service some council meetings including the cabinet and standards committee.

ANYTHING ELSE?

I oversee the complaints procedure and ombudsman complaints. I'm the lead officer on consultation which includes working with partners. It's a hands-on job with lots of variety, which I like, and that sometimes means juggling a lot of balls at once.

YOUR PREVIOUS CAREER?

It was all with Salisbury. I began here as a junior committee clerk in 1989. My role developed to include performance, consultation and research, leading the implementation of best value.

QUALIFICATIONS?

My degree from Essex University is in politics and I'm a chartered secretary.

PERSONALLY?

I'm married. We have a daughter of three and a baby due in September. I'm a member of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

THE FUTURE?

I like interacting with the public so would aim to stay in local government. But then local government is in my blood. My father was a council assistant treasurer.
