Steve Gow, District Housing Manager, Knowsley MBC

WHAT IS YOUR JOB ABOUT?

I've been seconded to the housing stock transfer team for the past year, working on the public consultation on the council's proposals for transferring its housing stock to a housing association.

WHAT HAS THAT INVOLVED?

Setting out the case for the transfer to council tenants and going out to ballot. Of the 60% of tenants who voted, three quarters were in favour.

SINCE THEN?

We've been organising the new Knowsley Housing Trust and have to satisfy the Housing Corporation that it meets the criteria to be registered. If we pass their tests, the trust will begin life in July.

WILL YOU BE TRANSFERRED?

If everything goes through, I shall move to the housing association and revert to being district housing manager.

YOUR PAST CAREER?

I started from school in housing with Liverpool City Council and came to Knowsley in 1986. I've studied while working and have a housing management degree and diploma in public administration.

ARE YOU ON ANY CORPORATE GROUPS?

I was on the community safety partnership and chaired the departmental anti-social behaviour group.

PERSONALLY?

My wife works in housing elsewhere and we have sons of 11 and 16. I'm a keen Liverpool supporter and have a huge collection of music, mainly rhythm and blues.

AND THE FUTURE?

If it all goes through I'd hope to develop a career with Knowsley Housing Trust.
