Braintree DC is to give rubbish eating worms another try for home composting, despite the failure of an earlier scheme, reports the East Anglian Daily Times (p10).

The council's environmental services committee is to introduce a year long trial of home composting using wormeries to reduce the amount of waste taken to landfill sites.

The paper reports that a previous trial carried out at Stisted had not been successful, though only 47 householders agreed to take part compared to the 300 joining the new scheme.
